Much Wenlock, Broseley & District

W4A - 6th August 2026 - Wenlock Edge

This was a local walk on the Edge, led by David and Lesley. Twelve of us set off from the lower Edge car park. We went up via Stokes Barn then made our way over the top and down to the lower level. It was slightly cooler on Thursday and most of the walk was in shade so that was good. We had coffee half way in a spot where there were lots of logs to sit on and then made our way up to the top car park. We were lucky to have Andy Jackson with us. He explained the geological features of the Edge and we were fascinated by the section which had taken 430 million years to get there from under the sea at the Equator. We walked back along the top path, which took about an hour, enjoying the lookout points such as Major’s Leap, and got back to our starting point after 4 hours. It was just over 6 miles and we all felt very exercised! Lovely day out with lovely company.
