Much Wenlock, Broseley & District

W4A – 2nd April 2026 – Pulverbatch

Walk Leader - Andy Jackson

Fifteen people joined Andy on a bright, cool spring day at the car park next to Pulverbatch Castle ( Motte). The roughly 6-mile circular walk included a morning break just above Cothercorte Mine where Barytes had been extracted over a period of just 27 years in the early twentieth century. The mine was used for Barytes. There followed a steady climb up WilderleyHill where the group were treated to far reaching views in all directions but especially over the north Shropshire. Lunch was enjoyed on Wilderley Hill in a chill wind. The route then descended towards Pulverbatch with a final, short, steep ascent to the finish at the car park.

Conditions were good underfoot with just a couple of stiles.
